On an old MFP from the same manufacturer, I refilled original cartridges with non-original ink, on a new MFP, because of rare printing, I still buy cartridges, but due to rising prices, I will soon have to switch to refueling again. Has pros: With very rare printing - a few pages a month, the ink in the cartridge is enough for a whole year. They don't dry out. Cons: Expensive as it is original and made in Japan. Probably, the Japanese understand that if they start production in China, then the market will be flooded with high-quality non-original cartridges (maybe not as high quality, but definitely cheap). And all the profits from printer manufacturers come from the sale of cartridges. Americans periodically sue printer manufacturers because without ink in cartridges, a scanner or fax does not work in an MFP (some Canon models do), so manufacturers depend on sales of this "black gold".
