It is neither an advantage nor a disadvantage that each of these points need its own independent proprietary router or a server equipped with controller software. This requirement simply is what it is. Personally, I find that installing the program and configuring everything from a central location is the most time and effort saving option. I believe that the majority of people who have developed to such a point that they require such hardware already possess a server that can be used to install the controller on the farm. On the other hand, this raises the possibility that in the event that there are issues with the manufacturer, the software support will be discontinued, and utilizing access points would become more difficult.
