Expensive but does the job well

I didn't think a set of foam ladders would do, but the Topmart ladder proved me wrong, at least with my dachshund who weighs about 13 pounds. The parts you need to assemble: foam core and fabric cover. No instructions are included but it's easy enough to see what needs to be done. The core itself is tightly rolled and fastened so that its thickness is roughly equal to a gallon milk jug. You'll need to remove the plastic wrap holding it - be very careful if you use a blade as you can easily cut through the foam - and unroll it. It will be very flat at first - maybe 2-4 inches thick - but will expand to its full size within a few hours. This is actually the best time to put it in a fabric case as you will have enough slack to fit it properly and then allow the foam to expand into the case. Speaking of the case, it's also very intuitive, with a non-slip bottom and a rug-like top for your pet. It has a high quality zipper at the bottom that creates a large hole for inserting a foam ladder. Even though I inserted the foam while still compressed, the opening is so large that I have no doubt that the foam can be removed fairly easily if you want to wash the cover. The product is actually a cross between a ladder and a ramp, with the "steps" only 1-3 inches high (how the lid rests on top of it matters). This works very well for my dachshund with her small paws. Now she is an older lady but she still handles it with ease. So now that I'm bragging about it, why am I only giving it four stars? Price. If it was $60 it would be a basic 5 star hotel. For 75โ‚ฌ I probably would have done it anyway. But a dime under $90 for a piece of (very good) foam rubber and a cloth case? It takes a lot.
