Review on Cuisipro Stainless Steel Measuring Spoon Set: Perfect for Precise Measurements with Odd Sizes by Cyndi Peters

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent quality but you need 1/3 instead of 2/3 tsp.

Good quality. good sentence. I really like the pinch spoon because it's metric and half 1/8. Often useful 1/2 tbsp. l., as well as 2 tsp. However, 2/3 teaspoons are practically useless and I have one of the regular Cuisipro spoon sets so I don't need the extra 1/8 size. What recipe ever calls for 2/3 teaspoons? You can make 2/3 tsp. from two 1/3 TL but the only way to get 1/3 TL. from 2/3 - measure two - 2/3, and then subtract 1 tsp. But it's too much trouble. Anyway, I really only bought this for three out of five spoons. I was also hoping to merge the two sets; cuisipo regular and non-standard size and that they nest. Well, it was a new idea, apart from the fact that they weren't apparently designed for it. Plus two sets were made in different countries; China vs India. The reason they couldn't nest inside each other was because the bent ends weren't bent to the same extent. However, I was able to take a pair of needle nose pliers and bend the handles of three of my best custom sized spoons to match the rest. It was tedious, but I did it carefully and it worked. However, 2 teaspoons doesn't go well with 1 tablespoon, so I left that out. Spoon tip with 2 tsp. rub 1 tbsp against the inside tip of a spoon. So I really only added a pinch and 1/2 tsp to my regular sized set, but I really like it and can still pull out 2 tsp when I need it. 2/3 teaspoon has taken up space in the back of my cutlery drawer, I think it comes in handy as an occasional stirring spoon if I run out of clean teaspoons or coffeespoons from time to time. You should change this set to offer 1/3 teaspoon instead of 2/3 and 1.5 or 2 tablespoons instead of the excess 1/8 teaspoon. On the other hand, instead of 1/8, they could offer half a pinch; which apparently is referred to as a drip or tiny 1/32 scoop for those specialty recipes and home chemistry geeks like me. An accurate 1/32 tiny teaspoon would actually be very useful for measuring salts and specialty supplements on my gram scale. I don't want to buy new mini measuring spoon sets that aren't printed with actual metric sizes. That's why I love cuisipro because they have them. One last thing to mention is that the original set of Cuisipro spoons I got a few years ago were from India and were made of thicker stainless steel. The metal gauge of the odd-sided spoon is probably half that of the original standard set. In other words, they are now made to cheaper standards than before. The handles can be bent with moderate pressure. That wasn't the case with the original.

Pros
  • The set contains 5 measuring spoons in different sizes"pinch", 1/8, 2/3, 1 1/2, 2 tsp.
Cons
  • There are nuances
