Works great

Failed to load media. I bought a pair of 1/4" fittings to split a 50ft hose into 15ft and 35ft. The coiled portion is plastic and provides much better strain relief than the hard rubber they use for the original Flexzilla hose. . The two fittings (barb and cap) are made of durable, black anodized aluminum. I was able to twist the fittings properly, nothing was deformed or torn off. However, some of the black is scratched, so I'm guessing after years of use there won't be much black left and they'll just be silvery aluminum. Cutting the Flexzilla hose was easy with a razor blade. Make sure you Get a good 90 degree cut then you can move forward and remove the strain relief and then the threaded cap. Once they are on the hose you can push the barb into the hose. This requires a fair amount of effort, but can easily be done without adding any lubricant. Just make sure the hose is fully seated on all sides. Once the hose is fully seated on the notch, you can pull the cap back and put it on. You will need two wrenches to tighten. Keep going until he stops going. Now you can move the strain relief up. It's designed to snap into place, but requires a lot more effort than you can put together by hand. I had to stick the tip into the ground and lean on it with my whole body before it snapped into place. I don't think it will ever come loose, so it might be an issue if you plan on using it multiple times. The threads on the tip are tapered to ensure a good seal when the final fitting is installed. I had about 1/8" of thread remaining after tightening everything up. Of course, you could get away with just popping in a regular push-in fitting and using a hose clamp, but this threaded cap approach gives a much better result. has as opposed to a collar also no open sharp parts.
