The Newer Leveling Base is a great and affordable tripod head leveling tool. No hassle when raising/lowering the tripod legs. I believe this gives any tripod the versatility of a ball leveler on high end tripods. I add extra weight but the speed at which I can align the fluid head is worth it. (Hydraulic heads are almost essential for smoothly panning and tilting a camcorder. But the camera has to be perfectly level or the panning won't be level and the result will be amateurish.) My only concern is that the top platform has a 1/4" breeding. This is normal in camera installation. But this is uncommon. Typically, you assemble the tripod head base. Essentially, you insert an aligner between the tripod and tripod head. Most good tripod heads have a 3/8" socket. Yes, you can fit a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter, but there are levels that come with a 3/8" peg that provides a more secure fit heavy pro camcorders and long telephoto (read heavy) lenses. For typical consumer gear (read light) this shouldn't be a factor.
