I like the ease of use, the clear gauges and the connectors flashing is good for identification when you don't want to pull on clogged connectors. The display would be better if it wasn't scrolling but solid, but with the remote it clearly shows you what's at least where it intersects. This is definitely a good cheap tester. I trust it and am CCNA certified. Nothing will replace a NIST-certified line condition tester, but the vast majority cannot afford/won't pay for a $3,000-$4,000 device, and that's totally understandable. This will determine if your cables are properly connected and in good condition, but will not determine capacitance, inductance or other crosstalk, interference capability or carrier capability. Distance calculators are overrated and I have never used a calculator that was truly accurate enough to calculate alongside a real field measurement that is not related to this device, just a note for greenhorns reading this. I'd say it's safe and a reasonable quality buy for the money, and dare I say it seems reliable enough for a job site.
