Big party game! (Great party game)

This is an awesome game. I recently played it with a group of friends and then I realized I MUST have it. It's very similar to the game called MAFIA that I played with my buddies in high school and college, except this game uses cards and rules to give the game more structure, which I like. The game is an old western card game. a game oddly written in Italian for a reason not yet determined (don't worry, there are also English subtitles under Italian). It's best to play in medium to large groups, ideally 5-7 people, but we've played in groups of up to 12 people. Upon setup, each player is secretly assigned one of 4 roles: Sheriff, Outlaw, Deputy, or Renegade, and each player's goal in the game depends on their assigned role: - The Sheriff tries to kill criminals. and Renegades - Outlaws try to kill the Sheriff - Deputy try to protect the Sheriff - Renegades try to be the last one left with the Sheriff and then kill him one by one. The only person whose role is known is the sheriff, who reveals it at the beginning of the game. As the game progresses, you try to figure out who's who around you, using weapons, various skill cards, and other items to achieve your goal. The game ends with either the death of the sheriff or the death of all criminals. If any of this sounds confusing, don't worry, once you've played the game once or twice it will become second nature. Pros: - Have fun. It has become our favorite game in the last month. People literally text me during the day while I'm at work asking when we're going to "BOOM" next (her words, not mine). - This special pack includes A LOT: the original game, the first expansion (High Noon), the second expansion (Dodge City) and the third expansion (A Fistful of Cards). - Comes in a cool ball-shaped metal case. Cons: - Can be a bit difficult for beginners, especially with expansion packs (you have the option to play without them though) - Games can take quite a long time depending on group size and experience. I had 8+ games that lasted over 2 hours. On the flip side, however, I've had games that ended in less than 30 minutes. - It's a knockout game, meaning someone who gets killed has to sit and watch until the game is over (except for some cards in expansion packs that can bring dead players back to life). It can be frustrating for people when you have a large party and they die early in the game as it means they have to sit and watch for a good 30 minutes or more. All in all, it's definitely money worth spending. Would definitely recommend (and have) to a friend.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not bad
