Bought for my mum who has macular degeneration and is almost blind. She is 91 years old. I've read that many others whose mothers have had macular degeneration have felt the same way. The product itself is great. My mom needed both a talking watch and something that would tell her the date because she was getting lost. When she started using it, we found a few small flaws in the design. First, the buttons are too small, and if they were a different color (e.g. white) that would help a lot. I had to put a few dots on one so she could feel it. It would also be useful to have something raised over the buttons so the person can feel the button. Bigger buttons would be better and as many have said it needs a cover on the back to prevent a blind person from accidentally touching the settings. She cannot set the clock, only a sighted person can set the time and date. My mom also wants to take a watch and hold it in such a way that she doesn't know which end is supposed to be on top. So she starts pushing things, and when they're upside down, she presses the controls and messes up the settings. She can still see, but not very well, and relies on touching things. It's just a bit difficult for them to see and find the buttons on this watch. She loves watches when she can find buttons. The voice is very clear. It might be better to just concatenate the time and date and then just have one big and handy button. The people using this watch are both partially blind, older and not that strong (sometimes my mother has trouble pressing the buttons because they are too weak). A few minor tweaks would have made this a fantastic date and time watch for the visually impaired. Those are good hours.
