I bought this for my one year old nephew. Once we taught him not to eat the pearls (it took about five tries but he eventually did, although he still needs supervision so he didn't try behind our backs), it was all just for experimentation! We placed them on a water table and he was mesmerized by the kinesthetic experience and the visual range of colors. They are really very beautiful, like little jewels. He drove in it and just tried lots of different things to see what would come out of it. It really brought out the little scientist in him (all babies are little experimenting scientists). I definitely recommend it!
