Review on Morakniv Kansbol: Premium Sandvik Stainless Steel Fixed Blade Knife for Ultimate Performance by Mike Starling

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I have many knives, but I have a particular reason for having this one

When you start planning a hike, it's normal to get fanatical about the weight of your backpack. Many survival knives are quite strong, weighing about a pound including the scabbard. The more I read about tourists, the more I realize that they carry little more than a pocket knife. This Mora Kansbol has all the useful features of the original Mora knives but with a stronger blade for tougher applications. The handle feels good, the blade is just over 4 inches long and razor sharp, and the sheath is plastic which makes it really lightweight. The knife weighs about 5 ounces and the sheath doesn't add to that. I spent a little more for the multi-buckle buckle and it fits perfectly on my Osprey backpack's shoulder strap. No one will mistake this for my BK-2 (it's a beast), but for a good all-purpose, all-purpose blade and light enough for a light backpack, I couldn't be happier!

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Very expensive
