Function structure scale

After reading the reviews (you see, people read what you write) about electronic scales, I chose the only hand scale decided scales listed under the options. I would make this choice again after using this scale. I figured it would be best to go with something I could test. An electronic scale can be assumed to zero correctly over the full range, but this can be difficult to verify. PROS: 1) I'm reasonably confident in my measurements. 2) The scale seems reliable, with an issue with zero drift, as I expected given the wide weight range. 3) The scales measure from 0.1 grams to 600 grams, a good and a bad feature as I will explain. DISADVANTAGES: 1) Zero drift between measurements, especially when going from a heavy measurement to a lighter one. Since I've known about this problem since my student days, it didn't really matter. I also planned ahead to convert all ingredient measurements to volume after determining the weight ratio so the zero-drift work was short term. The zero point drifted due to the large weight range. I noticed more zero drift after measuring something heavy. When I saw the drift I used a 0.1-10g ray to move it and position the indicator needle to zero. Once that was done, I left them in place, placed them on my "tare" container and took a tare measurement before adding ingredients to the tare container. Any tool that works with springs or bends, such as A scale, for example, suffers from zero drift, especially if it has a large weight range like this scale. Given this reality, I trust a hand scale that I see designed and corrected to zero drift than an electronic one that I have to entrust an assembler to.

Pros
  • Notched and stacked bar, front bar calibration Sensitivity 0.1g
Cons
  • Dubious purchase for the elderly
