Adjustable trim ring would be better
As for the installation (not sure if I can explain properly but here). But in my case, the showerhead comes out of the wall above the fiberglass shower stall. The stand sticks out just over an inch. There's no way to get it right. What they really need is a slip ring that can slide over the pipe (rather than a fixed ring) to allow for some adjustment. can come up with it. The downside is that all the small diameter internal pipes that water has to flow through reduce the available flow rate.
