Review on TOTO SS113 01 SoftClose Transitional Toilet Seat by Tim Wheeler

OK, OK. So two words. So this is my second TOTO toilet seat in 11 years on this toilet and I have 4 TOTO toilets with this seat. The closer works as expected for the life of the seat. and none of them physically collapsed in that 11-12 year period. They are easy to install and don't move around the bowl like some do. I don't recall ever dragging them back into the bowl, which either does credit to the seat or discredits my memory. It can be one or both. Fits the bowl perfectly and the hinges don't flex like some so the seat doesn't slide off the bowl when I squirm like some (if not most) do. Just as easy to clean. My mom had 2 Store Brand seats with latches that fell apart after a few years even though they were $20 cheaper. ahh. Less money for a seat than this. To be more specific. Now for the bad: the lid is hard plastic and the seat appears to be hard plastic too, but after several years of rings interfering with the finish, they're scratched, as are the spots on the lid. 2 stops. When scratched, they appear to peel off, as if painted or coated with a layer of paint. This layer is almost the same color but darker than shown in the pictures. Also, the layer forms mini-craters/bubbles where you sit and becomes unattractive and unsanitary. Next in the description is hard plastic. This was the only problem I encountered. shown 12 years old. To me they are worth the money mainly because they are of such good quality but could be a lot better if this coating were eliminated entirely. I will also try to contact TOTO directly about this. Again, I have already replaced one and after 3 years it starts ringing again. This toilet is in a very high traffic area in a 3 person house, so not in a professional office building where he sees 60 bums a day. A little.
