I suffered for a long time with Chinese routers, D-Link, TP-Link, Asus and other charms of the Middle Kingdom. Eternal glitches haunted me all the time. Lately, there was 1043ND from TP-Link, converted to DD-WRT, since the native firmware could not do anything at all and constantly hung up. However, DD-WRT solved many problems, but over time, iron began to fail. There were constant dependencies, PPPoE tore the connection. I was already beginning to sin against the provider, I even called them a couple of times, to which I heard only one thing: - Everything is fine with us. After several crashes of the router during the day, it was decided to buy MikroTik. Chose between this and that with gigabit ports. As a result, I chose this one, since 100 Mbps is personally for my eyes. First I set it up using the quick setup feature. In JUST 5 MINUTES, the router took off and began distributing WiFi, but in the evening I plunged into all its functionality. I realized that the logic of the processes in it can be implemented by scripts, and this inevitably gives it advantages in everything, since I can do what I want and how I want, at what interval I want, and so on. With the help of scripts, I was able to implement work with the dynamic Amazon service, and also sketched a script for reserving a 4G channel with a modem. Now when the main channel drops, the modem immediately takes off. I do not notice how this happens, only if later on the logs it can be determined that there was a fact of transferring routes to the modem. Summary: People who really want a router that can do everything or almost everything and at the same time has a low price and enviable stability, then TAKE and DO NOT even THINK! Only the fact of a tricky setup can stop you, but if you more or less understand how networks work, then with the help of numerous manuals and communities on MikroTik on the Internet, you can easily customize everything for yourself. It took me 3-4 days to do this. And a VPN is already working, a guest Wi-Fi point with authorization and a traffic shaper, IPTV, ports have been forwarded and a bunch of other things have already been configured, and I want to tie the same amount closer. time!
