Review on 🧪 Dr Meter 4 Digital Multifunctional Laboratory Switch by James Eledge

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works well - accurate to within a few percent

I already had a cheap power supply that worked fine except that its voltage/current readings were a bit erratic. I really had to use my DVM if I cared about the details. This power supply is much better in this regard. The meter reading is within a few hundredths of a volt or amp compared to my DVM. I would also add that despite the higher amperage rating it is noticeably lighter than my previous power supply (which is itself a switching power supply). Completely transformerless? I do not know. If it was important to me that the floor be insulated I would definitely want to check it out. Only a few things detract from my giving it only 4 stars: 1) The current reading has 4 digits with a decimal point in the middle. This is xx.yy. So I can only measure up to 10mA. Yes, I know I wasn't expecting such accuracy for such a price, but it was unexpected. My previous stock had a range button that moved the decimal point. never mind 2) The voltage drops a bit after a while. Not a lot, but a little. Again not a big problem. And 3) I like the USB connector for powering 5V objects. But the voltage is 5.2V. Within 5%, but it seems unnecessary to be so far away.

Pros
  • 5V/2A output and automatic power calculation
Cons
  • Something else
