I bought two, both my cables were brand new and one had a defect. I connected it to one of my storage cameras the first time I used it and when I grabbed the camera and moved the connector around in it it disconnected. Only the cable head was slightly bent when moving, so I checked it again and got the same result. Now, every time I use this cable with an external storage device, I have to be careful how I move during the transfer, otherwise the drive may become unmounted during the transfer and corrupt my personal stored data. it would be disastrous. I'm pretty sure I don't configure it, but it works fine! Both charge my 2019 16" MacBook Pro faster than I expected. You just have to worry about the lack of storage devices. Charging is perfect. Same as the original if not better.
