All right: I've run numerous temperature tests with both boiling and ice water. The two different sensors have NEVER adjusted the temperature and there is no way to calibrate the thermometer. The food temperature sensor was consistently about 2 degrees higher and the oven sensor was about 8 degrees higher - assuming a steady and constant temperature for both boiling water and ice water. Nothing I can't work with: I know the readings are high and they're consistently high so I can mentally brace myself for that. there is no way to make a backup. The only solution I could find was to disable the sensor and start over. Again, it's not a major disaster, but it's a device that lacks the functionality of the most basic digital watch. And I don't know how to turn off the alarm clock, so the bug keeps beeping. The guide is very short and does not offer any solutions to these complaints. The cord is steel braided and long enough to reach an outdoor grill or oven. Next time I buy, I'll look for a calibratable thermometer. , and other basic functions.
