This is a nifty looking mic stand that easily holds my five-piece K678 mic. It's also one of the cheapest and mounts through a hole instead of a clip. This allows for much more assembly flexibility if you have a table that you want to drill holes in. Overall build quality is a bit poor. It looks better than built. Lots of plastic. The cable clamps on mine don't close very well and the metal tubes don't fit the plastic connectors so you could accidentally pull them apart a bit during adjustment if you're not careful. If you're hoping for a professional stand at this price point, you're paying more for the looks than the feel. However, this is the cheapest lamp stand by a good margin. The other big issue that I think is causing people to say it doesn't hold the mic is that the spring tension only works in one direction. It is not clear in which direction, as the stand is symmetrical. The cords should run down the back, not the inside of the crook of your arm. I set it up differently at first and it's the other way around as several other reviewers have complained. After flipping it and adjusting the tension on my forearm, everything was fine. The spanner isn't exactly obvious either, but there's a big sticker to let you know when you get it. For the $47 I paid for it, I'm okay with compromises. Functionally, I'm not sure if it costs twice or more than cheap spring bars with external springs.
