We bought this cover 2 years to the week ago to protect the couch from "lick spots" from the dogs. More recently, our elderly 14-y.o. beagle has developed PIHS-Syndrome (Pee-In-Her-Sleep). This cover has been 100% "water"proof. Admittedly, it also protects against grandkids' pop (soda) spills, etc., too. It fits very well - perhaps a bit front-to-back short on the arm covers, but the front-to-back and side-to-side coverage on the body of the couch is more than sufficient.But, alas, after probably 40 machine washings, today beagle's PIHS event soaked through to the couch. After cleaning that up off the couch, I've promptly ordered another one of these, it performed so well for us the past 2 years.Meanwhile, it's very soft and not stiff like some waterproof covers can be. Very comfortable over hundreds of hours of TV watching, etc. I will say that it's quite bulky for the washing machine. We have an extra large super EXTREEEEM sized Kenmore washer of which this cover fills 90% of its capacity. So, if you have a smaller washer, it might be a bit tight in there.
