Not sure if the sponge is real

I bought this set because I used to use RT brushes and lived by it. I used to use a cosmetic sponge blender but decided to try the RT sponge. The brushes seemed fine and the sponge was great, but after the first wash it immediately started to decay and was almost slimy when washed. I decided to buy the same sponge from Ziel and see if it would work the same after the first wash, but to my surprise it didn't. Made me question the authenticity of this kit. Since I really like the sponge I will be buying it elsewhere than Revain.
