Review on Black Audio-Technica ATH-M50X Professional Grade Studio Monitor Headphones with Detachable Cable - Critically Acclaimed by Jeong Hoon ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The right product for me, there were no problems.

What does a simple novice music lover like Vasya from the district need? That's right, stick your ears in and "to bomb". These headphones are just for such beginners Vasya. The good thing is that they allow you to spend money wisely when buying: take bombing-sounding headphones with good sound quality, and determine for yourself whether it is worth buying something more later, while retaining all the advantages of ordinary, non-capricious to the sound source " ears" - if you really don’t want to take anything else, then you can leave the M50x as headphones for every day: in a TV, player, tablet, laptop, music receiver, and even in a mid-level amplifier. Very good as a "pass" to the world of music lovers and audiophiles. However, this makes the M50x more of a hobbyist headphone than aimed at some sort of professional experience. Yes, they bomb, they play, they sound great in any source, they are super versatile, BUT if you need anything more from them than just a "slightly above average" sound, then you will be disappointed - the M50x are sharpened specifically for mass and unpleasant will surprise you with unpredictable equalization, bad sound stage and blurry mids. And as headphones for every day - excellent.

Pros
  • -compact, foldable, the wire is completely detachable, a cover is included, three wires to choose from - everything is very thought out, made with care for the client. - despite the more or less average audiophile class, they are perfect for beginners, as they sound without problems in any sound source (from phones to players and integrated sound cards on a laptop). Feel great without amplifiers.
Cons
  • - the initial equalization of the headphones is uneven, the sound is heavily tinted and over-boosted in the bass and high frequencies, which makes them rather unpredictable in terms of sound settings. Strongly clog the sound with bass, you have to lower it. - despite the omnivorous nature, they can play differently on different sound sources, both for the better and for the worse. Pre-checking is still recommended. - small stereo panorama, small sound stage - lose to many classmates. - hardly suitable for DJs, as non-reference.
