Totally wrong sizing

I typically wear a 38 to 40, depending on brand. I ordered the 3xl first, way too big, probably about a 46 to 50 waist. Sent back and ordered 2xl, way too big still, probably about a 42 to 46 waist. Waiting for the xl to arrive in a few days, hopefully they'll be the right fit, maybe a 36 to 40 waist.
