Review on Dorhea LM2596 DC-DC Buck Converter Step-Down Regulator 4.0-40V To 1.25-37V DC 36V To 24V To 12V To 5V Volt Power Supply Module With LED Voltmeter Display Compatible With Car Motor Buck by Mark Tompkins

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Maybe these work for lower voltages but there's a reason other sellers de-rate input voltage.

I intended to add a USB port & phone charger to my 48v Ebike, which outputs around 51vdc when fully charged. After exploding the first one after properly wiring on the ebike, I proceeded to slow-kill the remaining units on a benchtop power supply. Even with inputs as low as 40v, this simple task of stepping down voltage to 5v is problematic. There's aren't a lot of variables at play here: Wire input voltage, wire output voltage, adjust potentiometer. So within that useage scenario, I have killed off 3 of my 5 and I'm probably done wasting time with them- which sucks because I built and 3d printed an assembly around this module and now I probably have to redo the whole thing with a more reliable module (or find a smaller one). Silly me, expecting a buck converter to do what it claims.
