This router replaces my old Linksys G+ MIMO router. The old one only had freezing issues and had to be restarted at least once a week. I bought it on the recommendation of a friend and so far it has met all my expectations. save one. OFFER! The router is easy to set up, and enabling/disabling a 5GHz channel is as simple as adding or unchecking a checkbox. I left the 5GHz channel on to get the benefits up close, but very few of my devices support 5GHz, so I can change that channel back to 2.5GHz and be done with it. The good news is that all my laptops etc now have excellent transfer speeds, even at 2.5GHz! My biggest complaint right now is the range. My old G+ was in the same spot, but I was able to get a good signal almost anywhere on my property (even in a gazebo 100 feet from home). Not so good with this router. I am struggling to get a signal in my driveway which is one wall and 60 feet from the router and am getting NOTHING in the gazebo. Even the farthest bedroom has a fuzzy signal (40 feet and two walls). I called Linksys about this and they suggested moving the router to another location, firstly it's not easy to do and secondly the old one worked GREAT in that location. I'll try to port it later, but if that doesn't help I'll have to request a warranty replacement as I feel like there's something wrong with this unit. I will update this review later. TO UPDATE. After several discussions with Cisco support via phone and chat regarding channel settings etc. I played around with the settings until I found a channel combination that seems to work much better for my home. I disabled 5GHz (switched to 2.4GHz), started dual band 2.4GHz and also re-enabled the 5GHz band in search of a better band. I further adjusted the channels and found two channel combinations that seem to offer the best range for my wireless devices. If you are having range issues with this router, toggle the channel selection to Auto and test each channel and frequency to see what works best for your home/business. This takes a little effort, but if "Auto" doesn't work for you, this is the best option for finding the best range and speed (reducing interference). I still like the router and it has been a pleasure working with Cisco/Linksys customer support, but honestly I was expecting better functionality and range. and right now I'm still not getting the range I got from my old WRT110 G+ router. Yes, the router is good (no crashes, freezes, bottlenecks, etc.), the speed is better than my old router (wired or wireless), but the range is still not in my "happy zone". I increased my rating from 3 to 4 thanks to the support team's help and the fact that it works!
