Review on 🔧 Enhance Performance and Protect Your Subaru with FRAM Extra Guard Air Filter, CA9113 by Glen Elevyn

The last Fram CA9113 I received from Revain (March 2015) did not have a metal frame and was definitely not rigid. They used to get rid of the screen, and now they're getting rid of the frame, so everything is fine. It's basically paper glued directly to a rubber backing, which is everything these days. I've included a few photos of the new one for comparison to others' photos of the previous, more robust build. At the moment there is nothing that makes the Fram stand out at all, so if the price is lower and the quality suits you then go for it, but other than that it doesn't beat any other cheap one. 2.5 stars. I'm also a bit concerned about the two long strips of adhesive on the motor-side filter that now support the pleats (since there's no frame). It appears to be firmly glued and not brittle, but I can imagine that after a long life this glue will eventually start to crack and be swallowed up by the engine? Update: I was curious if they all went the cheap route. So I also ordered a Pentius PAB9113 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EQ84NA and as of April 2015 the Pentius filter I received is still rigid and has a metal frame so I currently recommend this filter . an alternative to this (now weak) fram model. I've added a photo of both for comparison.
