Review on Enhance Your Home Theater Experience with the PANASONIC DVD-RV32 NTSC/PAL DVD Player by Joey Gilbert

I use it almost exclusively to play Netflix DVDs that I rent. Usually about one DVD a week, but sometimes two and sometimes less than one a week. I also didn't use it for about 5 months (but not all at once) during its lifespan when I was away, moving or abroad. I think I bought it the year it came out (2004?). It read all DVDs fine except for two really badly damaged Netflix discs. But it was the fault of the previous tenants. style is fine. It is black. What can you say. Impossible to see small buttons in a dark room if they are black and the block is black. All that black on black is still with us because decades ago people thought it meant high. Well that's not the case anymore and I wish the electronics industry would take a cue from the PC world (originally Apple) and go back to using white, gray and maybe some color (they did in the 1960's!). Unit. Confusing. I'm biased as I'm an interface designer, but this device doesn't have a simple interface to change settings, see how much time has elapsed or is left in a movie, etc. A poorly designed remote is part of the whole interface and that is 50% of the problem. It will be great if we can all use iPad with any interface app for our hardware. The app with the best design and user-friendly interface for home theater will win. Someday that day will come. Aside from the above issues and the limited number of ports on the back (Toslink, Composite and Component video only), this player worked without any problems. I even left it on pause after a few hours. on the phone in the same room, then in another room, forgot it was on, left home for many hours and returned home to find it was in sleep mode but ready to start back up to normal. I think it works on pause with the same still image on the screen for many hours before bed.
