I'm happy to increase my rating from 1 star to 5 stars. Initially I thought this 10" (3m) cable would not work at all on my Raspberry Pi because when I connected a USB audio device that I knew worked well, I just got a line of read errors for the device description received in dmesg. What I haven't checked is the USB connector itself! Later, when I finally plugged the cable into a different USB port on the same Pi, it worked perfectly, and in fact, even without the cable, the audio device didn't work directly on the problematic port. So the problem was clearly not in the cable. This can't have been the Pi's fault, at least not initially, as it was recently splashed with water while it was on and this may have shorted out the data lines on one of the ports, although other functions continued to work. The moral is, just keep exposed electronics away from lawn sprinklers and you'll be fine.
