And in this case, if you pay $20 for a monitor stand, you get a surprisingly heavy (or maybe more mercifully "solid") block of flat parts, a bag of screws, and absolutely NO instructions or tools. The lack of instructions was a little surprising as the product was packaged with great care. Luckily, if you've ever assembled IKEA furniture, you'll find that figuring it out is easy. The assembly is a bit tricky, since a lot of small screws and holes for these screws have to be screwed in. located somewhat by chance. It came together though and is reasonably stable, although a couple of screws just couldn't be screwed all the way down due to their position. It also comes with small plastic covers covering the locking mechanism that connects the legs to the top, however I was unable to reattach them. my shelves, not the monitor, so I can't say how much weight it can actually support, but other than that it's serviceable. If you're looking for a cheap option to increase the height of your monitor, you could probably do worse.
