This beard was surprisingly realistic once in place. There are no elastic bands going around the ears, but none are needed. My son used it as an addition to his pirate costume at a recent party. Although it has full adhesive, we took no chances and used some skin glue around the edges to make sure it stayed in place, and it certainly stayed on all night! It's a nice full beard, and the hair quality was quite soft to the touch, kind of like fake fur you find around jacket collars. The hair also did not shed, which was really a great plus!
