The pad itself is a high quality elastic gel that offers support but is soft underfoot. easy to get out of the way when you need to position the chair and sit for a while. It's not the prettiest - it's a black carpet - but it's not for decoration, it's for function and it does what it says on the tin and is worth every penny.
