This little digital recorder definitely works. As for quality issues, I haven't found any real cons yet - it's always good to remember that you get *a lot* of performance for a 2GB device. I've had mine for a little over a month - with a case for about $62, now they seem to be selling for $69 and my seller has them listed for $89 now. (?). A NOTICE. I just checked on March 11th, 2012 and the price has dropped back down to around $66(?)! I can see the technical features they packed into this tiny recorder (it DOES NOT weigh 1.2 pounds) and USB cable. definitely included. But other elements, well, without much effort, you have to work for yourself. Other reviewers have noted the ambiguity in the instructions. "Forced" use of Folders AE, not sure why that's not an option. I'm also used to accessing files on the recorder using the date and time, but when you move them to a PC the naming convention is determined by the order of the files. Not that big of a deal, except that if you delete a recording, the files are rearranged so there's no continuity when you move them to your computer. (**UPDATE: - To be clear - this doesn't rename the files or change their order, it just confuses you because {I} is used to looking for files IF I wrote them. IMHO it would be better if the convention of names follows the date/time stamp method When you are in menu mode it can be too easy to change the setting without knowing it If you are not looking at the screen you will miss the "See you" message and probably forget every key wakes him up Differences are of course documented. But the tech is there so come on Olympus give it to us! Comes with a lanyard too :) Those are secondary reasons I only got 4 stars otherwise it's small, records well, durable, has many other flexible options, koto These are found on some high-end recorders so don't skip these for minor issues. just know. and take great shots! I usually use SP/.wma and No Rec Scene mode files so I get 260+ hours with no problem. Recording time, which is great quality for my needs and certainly better than lugging around (and mangling) tons of 90 minutes. ribbons. (This is a "medium" quality setting; you can more than double the available time by changing the settings.)
