My thoughts and experiences with this product are a bit complicated, so buckle up. I have naturally straight, curly hair, long and colored. I'm not new to hair products of various kinds. I straighten my hair often. Three products that I go to essential when straightening my hair are a leave-in conditioner, a leave-in or spray for curls and/or moisture protection, and a shine serum. This product seemed a bit different from all three, so to test it out I took it out of my routine and instead just used this product in the shower as directed. The application requires some work. I've already done keratin smoothing in the salon, and it's like - the product is applied, you wait, then it's washed off. But as it turns out, there's a big difference between that experience and working with this product on your own. First, the spray bottle is a huge pain. It's hard to hold and even harder to spray, especially when you're wet and the product makes everything sticky. And it's really hard to estimate how much product actually gets into your hair. It washed up well enough, but my entire shower was super smooth. My husband later joked about "zero calorie cereal" ala "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". Our 8 year old son occasionally uses our shower so I have to make sure he's washed before he gets in or he gets completely slippery. And I ended up having to wash because when it washed out of my hair it got on me and made me slimy. I straightened my hair. First I dried it. I then brushed it with a combination brush/hair dryer. Then I used a flat iron. At every step of this process, I felt like this product worked just as well as the products I normally use. As a result, the hair became sleek, smooth and shiny. Perfect. I finished it off with a good spritz of moisture-proof hairspray as usual. After a day of wearing, the top layer of my hair still looks great. But the bottom layer, which is much more even and frizz-prone, is definitely starting to frizz. Although this product makes hair beautiful and shiny, it does not prevent it from reacting to moisture. If you're looking for a good all-in-one hair straightener, this is probably a good choice. But if you already have separate products that you're used to using together, this product doesn't add anything special to your hair or routine (except maybe a slippery shower!). For me this would be a 4 star product if it wasn't in a spray bottle. In my opinion this product would be more effective than a cream which would be much easier to use.
