I've been a Hakko fan for years. My Hakko FX-888 stopped heating and needed a new heating element. I went for the price, this iron was worth it. My Hakko fell off and the front fork was also a bit worn. The iron uses the same tips as the Hakko and with a wide flat chisel tip (5.1mm I think) which I ordered separately I was able to solder 10 gauge rc. Car battery cables to XT90 connectors with the same ease as Hakko. But that's why I like this iron more. Hakko uses knobs to set the temperature. This is a simple pen. The iron plugs in and has a threaded ring that holds it in place. The Hakko simply buckles and weakens over time. Overall I am happy with this iron. It comes with a pack of tips, a flux-based brass tip cleaner and tweezers. Hakko gets away with none and costs more than double. I don't regret it!
