If you are unsure about the size and feel like you are "in the middle" I would recommend going up. Length, very comfortable. Then I ordered a small one based on this pattern, but it was too tight. I could wear it but needed a little more space. I'm glad I brought the small one back in the medium size. because it fits perfectly. I'm not sure if there is an overall size difference between the solid line and the prints but if I buy more solid colors or prints I get a medium length which seems about the same as the small and medium have but the size is larger gives a more comfortable fit.
