I've only been drinking iced coffee for about 15 years, I buy whole beans and grind them with a coffee grinder. I've had the Queen of Iced Coffee Makers (OXO) for many, many years. It worked well even after my daughter threw it off the counter and broke the bottom of the brewing container. After many years it began to leak; Gaskets are worn. I was looking for another iced coffee maker that can make about 32 ounces of dark iced coffee concentrate. I did my best. There are several tinctures on Revain and they just can't make a concentrate no matter how much time is left to brew. If you want to focus, don't worry. Water and coffee should come face to face - anything else just doesn't help. Then I turned to the French bench press style. I have always resisted this type based on my experience with hot French press brews, i.e. very weak coffee. I bought this device and after some experience I was pleasantly surprised and a little pleased with it. I grind and fill it with about 3 inches of coffee and leave it on the counter overnight with a regular lid. The next day I put it in the fridge and leave it for another day. Then I switch covers and press. At this point I tried pouring it into another container but there were too many coffee grounds. So now I leave it alone and just pour it out from under the press. Completely without a trace. If there are a few portions left, I slowly pour them into another container and leave the rest. It is easy to clean and I repeat the process. It yields a surprisingly high amount of concentrate and is actually easier to use than OXO, and I now use half the amount of coffee to brew a little less than I did with OXO. It's a bit big in the fridge, so you need a lot of space for it. I haven't tried any other french press style iced coffee makers so can't compare but this one works great, is very affordable, uses less coffee grounds and is easy to clean. I highly recommend it.
