Review on Motorcraft FP71 Cabin Air Filter by Kyle Ahmed

Revainrating 5 out of 5

OEM 3 years old definitely needed this

I've been taking my car to the dealer for an oil change for the past 3 years and it wasn't until I realized the airflow out of the vents was very slow that I discovered that this filter existed (I thought only imported and luxury brands had cabin filters). I can't believe they didn't try to stop me the whole time. This is perfect for my 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Used YouTube for guidance, had no problems sharing. After the replacement, the airflow returned to normal (even a little louder). I'll do this at least once a year from now on. Mileage isn't really a good indicator of when to change, my car only does 28,000 mostly city trips, dirt roads a few times a year when we go camping. If you have airflow or odor issues, order one and replace it. The process takes about 20 to 30 minutes. While it's not very messy, it's better to save yourself the trouble and change it a bit sooner than take it apart just to look at it. Hope that helps. I added a photo of the dirty one - it's hard to believe that even leaves somehow got there. Update: I noticed noise from the fan, a few strands of dirt/dust got into the fan motor when I removed the dirty filter. After opening it up and removing the new filter, I was able to tape out what fell out and put everything back together.
