Review on ⏰ TIME TIMER 8 inch Visual Timer - 60 Minute Kids Desk Countdown Clock | Dry Erase Activity Card + Magnetic | Ideal for Kids Classroom, Homeschooling Study Tool, Task Reminder & Home Kitchen Timer by Regina Ford

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fragile, cheap. But absolutely necessary for people who have a bad idea of time

I have to have this timer: without it I'm always late, nervous, annoying strangers and annoying my husband. The red time bars give me an accurate idea of how much time is left before setting them without having to adjust mentally. I don't have to search/turn on my phone and find the clock app or count backwards from a set time, go insane at the last minute, or be generally frustrated. Some people just don't see time that easily. I am dyslexic and autistic and regular working hours are just annoying. ADVANTAGES: This is an indispensable tool for people (adults or children) who have difficulty measuring the passage of time. All I have to do is look at the amount of red on the dial and I can figure out how much time is left before I have to go, take a pill, check my underwear, hit the gym, have a turkey poke or something. This is no joke. When your sense of time is out of whack, this little tool prevents fights, helps keep the peace, and prevents tardiness, period. This is the best way to measure how much time you have left until class and act accordingly. - Easy to set up. Place your finger (gently) on the small round dot and drag to set the time to be measured. It starts without further action. Apart from the battery, there is no on/off switch. This model has the function of a small beep when the time you set is up. It's not an annoying noise (unlike an alarm clock or a microwave beep). The beep doesn't give me any problems with sensory stimulation at all and turns itself off after a few short beeps. You can also set the switch to no beep. I like that there is a choice. CONS: - Weak in every way. The folding "legs" are a joke: I hold the thing and lean against the books as I unfold it. The indicator's red plastic cover is paper-thin, and any tampering (so careful) with it will tear, bend, and permanently disfigure. Once mutilated, he will no longer work. There isn't much room for abuse here. So between the inserts I fold the little plastic legs, wrap the whole watch in bubble wrap and put it in a drawer between soft things. Damn.- Why isn't there a battery in the kit? It requires AA. Most products these days, especially those in the $20+ range, come with a battery. I had to find and remove the battery from the remote just to get it working the same day I got it. Hey manufacturers: cheap, cheap, cheap. - While talking about the manufacturer's frivolity, we note that some kind of bag in the kit would not hurt. The actual face of the timer is so delicate. If you ever want to put this timer in your pocket and take it with you, you're going to have to put it in something. Save the box and bubble wrap, or purchase some sort of protective case. The maximum time that can be set is one hour. In fact, five minutes is less than an hour, as setting right on the 60-minute line tends to confuse the timer thinking it's now. (Create your own time paradox experiments for less than $30!) Why I bought the 8-inch model: I chose the 8-inch timer for home use. It's big enough to be viewed from across the room, but not so flexible that it falls over with the slightest hit. I was originally looking at the 12 inch size, but I suspect it would be best for wall hanging, especially in a school, office or workshop. The 8 inch model isn't big enough to be portable, but if portability was the most important feature I needed, I would go for the 3 inch model. So now you know how to choose between three options when purchasing a model: 1. 12 inch - For large wall mounting2. 8" - for shelf or table mounting, but big enough for wall mounting in small spaces. A bit large to carry around, but not impossible with care3. 3 inches is a portable size or a good option for use on a table in small cubicle-like spaces. There is no other such visual timer on the market. So 4 stars: I would give it 5 stars for its usefulness and 3 stars because it is so weak. In any case, if you have an autism spectrum disorder Disorder or just having trouble with timing the product is a must have. -Treat with kid gloves.I don't expect it to last a year but it's still VERY worth it.I have a happy one actually made a dance when he showed up at my door.
