Review on 🔑 FEITIAN ePass K10 USB Security Key: Enhanced Multi-Factor Authentication for Superior Account Protection by Brian Nelson

The device was just received and set up and here are my first impressions of the device. I'm coming from a SoloKeys Somu that broke after 9 months (the part that sticks out and you press broke from daily wear and took a little hit and the copper got tired and fell off so it was hard to use , when I had to press really hard to authenticate, and it will probably break very soon). So now I have a new key, 飞天 (FEITIAN) ePass K10. I use K10 with my Google accounts, Outlook, Facebook etc. - K10 price is very good, it is much cheaper than Yubikey 5 Nano and SoloKeys Somu. - The device protrudes 1-2 mm. more than these 2 devices but it makes it easier to turn on and off. The K10 seems to be significantly more durable than my Solokeys Somu. The K10 doesn't seem to fit into my Mac's USB port as tightly as my SoloKeys Somu, so I'm not sure if it could fall out when moving my laptop. The LED on the K10 is much brighter than the one on my Solokeys Somu, which really annoyed me. I don't understand why manufacturers put blindingly bright LEDs on these devices. It has only two functions: notify the user when it is activated and let the user know when a website or application asks for authentication. There is no need to add a third function that will also blind the user. It's annoying at night when you keep your laptop next to the bed and it lights up your room. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if they only turned on the light when authentication is requested and didn't turn it on the rest of the time. It seems that all management applications of 飞天 (FEITIAN) are Windows only. When I first got the K10, HOTP seems to have been enabled by default. I didn't need this feature and it was annoying because every time you accidentally touched a key, it would print a random string of numbers. Accidental keystrokes are inevitable. The documentation for K10 seems a bit missing and confusing on the 飞天 (FEITIAN) website, but I found a Windows application (ePassFIDO-NFC OTP Tool 5.0). So now I had to connect this device to my Windows 10 PC to manage and disable HOTP function, which is annoying because there are people who don't use Windows or don't have access to it. Permissions manager for the device, allowing you to view the device's resident FIDO2 keys and delete the ones you don't need. Even Google Chrome's built-in key manager (3 dots top right >> Settings >> Security >> Security key management >> Signature data) cannot access it. It would be very convenient. From my first impression I think it's a good product for the price. If you don't want to spend $50 for a Yubikey 5 Nano, I would buy an ePass K10 飞天 (FEITIAN). I would avoid SoloKeys Somu based on my experience with it.
