For the first time, LEDs have been replaced by halogens; interesting experience. As the 3 photos show, a couple of things: These 1000L bulbs seem to be basically as bright as the 1600L halogen bulbs. Makes no sense, but it seems so - these bulbs are slightly whiter at 3000K than halogen bulbs (which may be 2900K, but the LEDs seem noticeably whiter in comparison...but mostly at low lumens, fully dimmed. At half dim LEDs, even whiter and seem to emit the same amount of light. At full power the LEDs are slightly whiter. I had no idea the color temperature of incandescents, halogens or LEDs changes that much in the dimming range - these incandescents DO NOT change by as much as 10% dim as shown in my first illustration; 3 halogen bulbs when fully dimmed produce light that is best described as a "night light" however these LEDs may only dim up to 40-50% which is a very bright Level is, so if you want a really low light these bulbs aren't for it. If these bulbs last a long time they make a great, albeit slightly more expensive, replacement for hot burning halogen bulbs. There are times when I need 300 watts in the bathroom and I always have to turn on the exhaust fan because of their heat. I no longer expect that with LEDs. e: When I received and installed the 2nd pair, one of the bulbs closed my circuit - the switch tripped. Unfortunately, he also set fire to a $24 Lutron digital dimmer. Inevitably, due to the large mass of the "bulb," it can be very difficult to tell if you've properly seated each end onto the spring-loaded pin of the mount. Apparently I didn't have my 3rd bulb installed the first time around. I replaced the switch with an old on/off toggle switch, seated the bulb as carefully as I could, and opened the circuit. The second bulb in the 2-pack worked fine, so after the evaluation I replaced the digital dimmer with a spare. I suppose I've had a bad LED bulb and 1 bit bad luck, but I find it incomprehensible that a lamp, bulb or both can be designed and sold without some form of failsafe circuit protection and expensive digital switches. Edit: Strange experience: last night a light flickered and went out and stayed that way. Turn on the device this morning and it lights up. inexplicably.
