The protective plastic cover was not removable for cleaning and once removed it was not locked making the product unusable. To replace a product, Panasonic requires that you ship it (at your own expense) to a facility in Texas (I'm in North Carolina) to attempt a repair before they ship it back/replace it. What should you do to trim your beard at this time? I suspect Panasonic thinks facial hair will stop growing while you wait. So you will have to buy something else in any case, making the repair/replacement process completely useless. This is a scam. Don't buy Panasonic.
