Why do mountain bike rims use Presta valves? The Presta is inferior to the Schrader in every way but one, and that one aspect is irrelevant to the rim on which the 2.5″+ tire is mounted. Presta has room on narrow road bike rims, but it just sucks on a mountain bike. Don't feel like reaming your rims to use internal schrader hoses or tubeless schrader valving (which you can), this is a good way to go. Now you can use a regular pump, compressor and pressure gauge.
