I'm just starting out in making candles, but I've read and tested enough about other wicks to try this wooden wick. My candles are 100% beeswax in a 2 5/8 to -3 inch tin. When the unprimed wick didn't work, I filled it in by dipping it in melted beeswax. This didn't help either. Convince yourself: picture 1 - wooden wick, picture 2 - wooden wick and 2 different wicks (wood is the worst), picture 3 - square braided wick - burns great! By the way, there was no cod. This wick can work great with a variety of waxes, so don't dismiss it entirely. On the other hand, I requested a refund and wanted to return the wicks. They didn't take the ship back but issued a full refund, which was a pleasant surprise (hence the 3 stars instead of 1). If I find a good candle to use that wick I'll update this review (I might try coconut oil or soywax + beeswax).
