I use a DAC+ Pro in my old (but beloved) Marantz NR-1501. It doesn't include network streaming or Spotify features, so I set out to create the ultimate streaming audio player. I use Rpi 3, DAC+ Pro and Volumio 2. Along with the extremely attractive Hifiberry steel case, this is now my favorite part of the A/V system. Volumio 2 has built-in support for all Hifiberry products, it couldn't be easier to connect network drives, add the Spotify plugin and you'll be streaming great music in under half an hour. Playing Flac 192/24 files through the Marantz and some Pollk Tsi 500's I was really amazed at the depth and clarity of the soundstage on such a small and inexpensive device. Get Spotify network and streaming, build a rpi and hifiberry streamer instead. Not only is it super simple, it's portable, it supports multi-room setups (I have one outside too) and Volumio offers features no network receiver can match. Love it!
