I thought all these cases were the same but they aren't. The first one I bought and used for years was a very thin rubberized material. It slipped off easily and wasn't very protective. This one is much better and worth a small extra charge. I bought a new one because the first one was black and hard to find. So I just wanted to get a replacement for the paint. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much better they can do their job. The sleeve no longer slips, it sits securely. The material is thicker with shock-absorbing corners, but it doesn't really differ from bare because the remote is already so small. Again, the best part is that it fits so snugly and doesn't squirm around the remote. I just wanted a different color for better visibility and got a much better functional case. I only wish it glowed in the dark, but to be honest I don't usually look for a remote in the dark.
