
This is normal. As you cut through the media to be cut, a strange grinding noise will be heard and your blade will dig into the mat. It's almost like there's a middle layer underneath and it's slate or 200 grit sandpaper. They're not the best at self-healing either. I have another rug that I have had for years and it has almost none of the damage that this one does after a month of use.
