and it was delivered on 10/8/2018. I have successfully made a batch of popcorn. On December 3rd I wanted popcorn, so I took the machine out of the closet and filled it with popcorn. It worked for about 20 seconds and then shut off. I tried cooling it down and turning it back on but it was dead. Amazon's return period expired on November 5th. Read the guarantee. It was under warranty but the warranty specifically states that I am responsible for shipping to and from the company. Which brings me back at the expense of the new. For me it's not a guarantee at all. I decided to call the warranty center (number listed) to see if I could convince them to just send me another one. Hung up on first call. The second time I called, the record said I would have to wait 20 minutes. Since it was garbage collection day anyway, I figured I'd take the $19.99 loss and just admit to myself that buying a popcorn machine in Hamilton Beach was my mistake. I took it to the trash can and shipped it to where I suspect a lot of these Hamilton Beach popcorn makers end up.
