Lately I've been making apple pie using a traditional peeler and blender. I didn't like the thickness of the peel at all - I lost a lot of fruit and I just don't like it. So I figured it would be best to see if motorized shears were better and then I stumbled upon this little gem. I was struck by the photos where the peel was removed - there was almost no apple flesh. And it all cost $20 - so there was nothing to lose and I ordered it. It cuts wider skins than more traditional metal shears, so it's FAST. It looks like it will work with a variety of apple sizes - mine were mostly medium, but the blade rotation was clearly suited to larger fruit. The bonus slicer is sharp and quickly removed the core and sliced a freshly peeled apple. If you have children or grandchildren, you usually have to peel and chop an apple before giving it to them. This little thing can save you tons of time. Besides, my kids like it, they like to use it easily, I like it more.
