Ferret found hanging constantly in tunnel

I have now walked past my ferret's cage 3 times and seen it hanging by its toenail from the thread/material of this hanging tunnel. We trim our ferrets' nails regularly, but that doesn't seem to help. I found a large amount of gray fluff from this item on the bottom of the cage as ferrets tend to dig, dig. His other litter doesn't break like that. I have a feeling this item is dangerous after only a few months of use as it literally left our ferret hanging all night due to threads/bedding coming loose in this item.
