I think your child needs a lap/legs big enough so that the tray completely rests on their thighs/knees. It is only secured by a strap that goes behind the child’s back, and on a little two year lap it tilts every which way and all the toys and snacks slide off. So you can’t set them up in the backseat while you are driving… even if there’s someone to sit in back with them, it’s difficult to use because you have one hand trying to hold the lap desk steady and the other trying to help with the activity, catch markers before they roll into oblivion, etc.On the plus side, the activity pages it came with are nice, engaging learning activities.This wasn’t too expensive so we will hang on to it and see if it works better later, maybe when he’s like 4.
